Hourly employees at Pasadena’s Stater Bros. market will continue to receive an extra $2 an hour through May 31, according to company.
The wage incentive includes all of the company’s we are hourly employees that work in the stores, distribution, transportation, corporate offices, and construction.
According to a statement from the market’s corporate officer Stater Bros. Markets remains dedicated to providing essential services to local communities and is proud of the dedication the Stater Bros. Family has displayed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CEO Pete Van Helden. “Every day we are reminded of the unwavering commitment of our employees to the communities and shoppers we serve. We are extremely proud of their dedication and this wage incentive is a recognition of their continued, tremendous efforts,” Van Helden concluded.
Stater Bros. Markets is currently operating daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., with 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays dedicated exclusively for senior shoppers.
The announcement comes one day after Kroger announced it was no longer paying its hourly employees a “hero wage.”
Under the hero pay, Kroger, which owns Ralph’s and Food 4 Less also received an additional $2 an hour.
UFCW Local 770 and a group of affiliated unions representing grocery workers have issued a joint statement to Kroger asking for the reinstatement of the Hero Bonus pay, and for management to limit the number of customers allowed into the stores at one time, enforce physical distancing, and require all employees and customers to wear face masks in areas where that is not already mandated.
