Strong Performance by PCC Speech and Debate Team at PSCFA Tourney

The Pasadena City College Speech and Debate team performed exceptionally well at the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association (PSCFA) Fall Championship tournament held at Cerritos College. 

Students competed in rookie, novice, junior, and senior divisions of Parliamentary Debate and novice, junior, and senior divisions of NFA and Parli L/D, as well as a division of Readers Theater and 12 individual events. In total, 36 schools and 221 debate teams competed in 864 individual events.

Under the tutelage of PCC coaches/instructors Cindy Phu, Josh Fleming, and Stephanie Fleming, Speech and Debate team member Sarah Kwon was a finalist in both Junior Informative Speaking and Junior Persuasive Speaking; Anna Yan placed second in both Senior Informative Speaking and Communication Analysis Speaking; Tory Tunzi placed fifth in Senior Poetry Interpretation; Stephanie Mu was a finalist in Junior Poetry Interpretation; Richardo Lopez was a finalist in Junior Prose Interpretation; Hadrian Bravo was a finalist in Novice Persuasive Speaking; Michelle Washington was a finalist in Junior Dramatic Interpretation; Urian D’Silva placed second in Novice Dramatic Interpretation; Alayna Leibman and Jessica Juarez placed second in Senior Duo Interpretation; and Kevin Chairs placed first in Senior Dramatic Interpretation.
