Sue Mossman, the esteemed Executive Director of Pasadena Heritage, is set to retire after nearly five decades of service, including 30 years at the helm of the organization. Her retirement will be celebrated at a Retirement Dinner hosted by Pasadena Heritage on Saturday, May 4, at the Athenaeum at Caltech.

“After an illustrious career spanning nearly five decades, I realize it is the last column I will write as Executive Director!” Mossman said in a published letter to members and friends. “Suddenly reality is setting in! A major life change is almost here for me and for Pasadena Heritage.”

During her tenure, Mossman played a significant role in shaping Pasadena Heritage into one of the most successful and respected preservation organizations in the country.

“As a community, Pasadena has embraced historic preservation as a shared value, but that wasn’t the case 47 years ago when Pasadena Heritage was founded,” Mossman reflected. “It took nearly half a century to accomplish, and we should all be proud of the progress made.”

Pasadena Heritage said the retirement dinner is expected to draw around 200 guests and will feature a cocktail reception, formal dinner, live entertainment, and heartfelt farewells. Attendees will have the opportunity to honor Mossman’s legacy and support Pasadena Heritage’s ongoing preservation, education, and advocacy efforts, as all proceeds from the event will contribute to these causes.

“A book could be written about all the challenges and adventures of my last 45 years, and who knows, maybe someday one will be,” Mossman said. “But in the end, it is the people who made the difference, those who cared, those who gave, those who stood strong against opposition, who celebrated the saving of history and who illuminated our shared Pasadena stories.”

Individual reservations for the retirement dinner are open to the public and can be made through April 29 on Pasadena Heritage’s website, https://pasadenaheritage.org/suemossmanretirementdinner/.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for both corporate and individual categories.
