Sunny Days Ahead, But Chilly

The National Weather Service says a weak weather system will bring some rain and snow to the mountains today into Thursday along with gusty winds, but in the valleys, dry and cool weather can be expected through Friday.

Cool air will be a major feature before the weekend, with maximum temperatures across the valleys ranging from 58 to 64 or about four to eight degrees below normal.

After that, another storm system comes up over the weekend which may persist into early next week.

Thursday in Pasadena is expected to be sunny, with a high near 61, and a light and variable wind from the west southwest at five to 10 miles per hour in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Thursday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 39. A north northwest wind blows at about five mph.

Friday will be sunny, with a high near 62, and a north northeast wind of five to 10 mph.

Friday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 64.

“The day will be quite similar to Friday except there will be a slow ramp up in mid and high level clouds due to the slow approach of an upper low,” says the NWS in a forecast discussion. “Maximum temperatures will be a degree or two cooler as heights slowly fall and clouds slowly increase.”

The NWS also forecasts some rain could develop over the area sometime Saturday evening or perhaps early Sunday before dawn, turning into showers Sunday night.
