The man arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies for the vicious beating and stabbing of a 77-year-old Altadena grandmother Friday night was her grandson, authorities said today.

Deputies were called to the 1700 block of North Allen Avenue in Altadena about 7:45 p.m. after neighbors found the victim on their porch, covered in blood.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Deputies arrested the woman’s 23-year-old grandson, identified as Alex Touloudjian, of Altadena, said Sergeant Alan Chu of the Crescenta Valley Sheriif’s station.

An axe handle believed used in the attack was found, however the sharp instrument used to stab the woman was not, according to media reports.

Authorities said the motive for the attack is not known.

Chu said that Touloudjian is being held in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, Chu said.
