A preliminary hearing date is scheduled to be set on Friday for a man accused of fatally shooting two people in Villa Parke and seriously wounding another one year ago.

Christopher Paul Hall is charged with the shooting deaths of Christino Medellin Avila, 51, and Aaron Perez Flores, 40, on Dec.1, 2020.

Avila died at the scene. Flores was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later.

Hall pleaded not guilty to the charges in September.

The three victims were sitting on a park bench when the shooting began according to police.

Hall faces two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with the shooting, which occurred in the Northeast portion of the park.

The shooters fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, police said at the time and were arrested nearly six months later with the help of a US Marshals fugitive task force on May 20.

Hall’s twin brother Christian was later arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man and his dog in Monrovia. That case also has a Pasadena connection.

A co-defendant in that fatal shooting, Pasadena resident Tanaj Johnson, 22, was arrested in connected with a the 2020 Valentine’s Day shooting that seriously injured a 10-year-old boy who was playing in his front yard near the park. Police said the boy was not the target in the shooting.
