Pasadena police released a composite sketch Tuesday of a man who they say attacked robbed a 67-year-old woman of her handbag, leaving her with significant injuries.

The victim was walking home from work about 2:35 a.m. on Aug. 15 in the 1500 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue when the robber suddenly grabbed her shoulder bag and “pulled violently” on it, knocking the woman to the ground, police said in a written statement. She suffered what was initially described as a dislocated shoulder.

The woman struggled to keep her purse, at which point the man struck her in the face, causing her to let go, police said. He was last seen running south.

Police described the robber as a Black man of about 40 years old, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing roughly 200 pounds. He wore a black polo shirt and light gray pants during the crime, which was being investigated as a robbery, as well as an incident of elder abuse.

“The victim is now recovering from her injuries,” according to the police statement.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Pasadena police at 626-744-4241. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
