A suspected gang member was arrested after police allegedly found drugs, cash and firearms in his vehicle and home during a traffic stop and subsequent search, authorities said Thursday.
Roddie Cobb, 45, of Pasadena, was pulled over by members of the Pasadena Police Department’s Street Crime Unit on Wednesday at 10:28 p.m. on Oak Knoll Avenue and Del Mar Boulevard for a vehicle code violation, according to Lt. Edgar Sanchez.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered brass knuckles, which are illegal, and a “trap” compartment commonly used to conceal narcotics, Sanchez said.
A police canine unit from Glendale PD was called in and positively alerted to the scent of drugs near the trap, though none were found in the vehicle, Sanchez said.
Police then obtained a search warrant for Cobb’s residence, where they reportedly seized 5 kilograms of cocaine, 6 kilograms of heroin, 2 gallons of mushrooms in plastic bags, about $30,000 in cash, four semi-automatic firearms, and other items indicative of drug sales, Sanchez said.
Cobb, who police say is a member of a local street gang with prior arrests for selling drugs, was arrested on suspicion of narcotics and weapons offenses. He is a convicted felon and registered narcotics offender, according to Sanchez.
