Teen Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Pasadena

A 16-year-old juvenile was taken into custody following a high-speed pursuit in Pasadena on Wednesday, May 22, at approximately 8:34 p.m. The incident began when members of the Pasadena Street Crime Unit observed a vehicle speeding at the intersection of North Fair Oaks Avenue and West Washington Boulevard, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Edgar Sanchez.

According to Sanchez officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop for the speeding violation, but the vehicle failed to yield, leading to a pursuit.

The initial pursuit, which lasted approximately three minutes, was canceled due to high speeds and traffic conditions.

Shortly thereafter, officers located the vehicle again.

The driver again evaded the officers initially but was eventually re-engaged by the police.

The pursuit continued until the vehicle stopped in a parking lot at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where the driver was taken into custody without further incident, said Sanchez.

The 16-year-old suspect was arrested for felony evading. He was later released to his guardian, said Sanchez.
