The parents of Kendrec McDade, the 19-year-old Azusa student shot to death by two Pasadena police officers on March 24, said their son will be memorialized in a funeral service scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Altadena.
A private viewing of McDade was held Friday afternoon in Pasadena.
The family has had trouble raising funds to cover the burial costs. Earlier in the week, father Kenneth McDade went on a Los Angeles area radio station owned by Stevie Wonder to ask the public’s with the estimated $10,000 expense.
Family attorney Caree Harper said in a press release that her office will have private investigators at the funeral services to witness and document any police activity “that would give the appearance of harassment or unlawful profiling of attendees.”
