Television Critics Association Press Tour at Langham Hotel, an Industry Fixture, Canceled

The Television Critics Association’s (TCA) has canceled its summer press tour.

The event was scheduled to be held at Pasadena’s Langham Huntington in Pasadena later in the summer.

In a letter to its members, the TCA board wrote they were talking with the TV networks to explore “virtual alternatives” to the summer press tour’s Q&A panels, both within the original press tour time frame and later in 2020.

“But, given the current state of television production, as of now, this is a cancellation not a postponement,” the memo said.

During the panels, the group’s members – composed of more than 200 critics and reporters who write about TV for U.S. and Canadian print and online outlets – interview actors, producers and network executives and ask them about new and returning programming.

TCA members reach tens of millions of consumers each week and are considered experts within the industry, representing their employers as moderators, panelists, or radio and TV guests and artists.

The winter press tour was held in January at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena and featured more than 130 panels, where hundreds of stars, producers and network bosses took the stage to talk about their latest projects and present prospects for new shows this year.

The Langham has closed its doors due to diminishing business as a result of the virus.

Although hotels are considered an essential business in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s order.
