On July 26, 2003, the 13.7-mile, 13 station Metro Gold Line light rail line opened for passenger service between Downtown Los Angeles and East Pasadena. Friday marked the line’s 10th anniversary of  that important day.

To recognize this milestone, and the significant impact the Gold Line has had on the region over the last decade, the Metro Gold Line (MGL) Foothill Extension Construction Authority held a 10th Anniversary party at Del Mar station. Speakers recognized the Gold Line’s many successes, as well as discussed the importance of the next segments of the line – the Foothill Extension from Pasadena to Montclair. Those in attendance included:

• Rep. Judy Chu, United States Representative, California’s 27th Congressional District
• Chris Holden, California State Assembly, 41st District
• Bill Bogaard, Mayor, City of Pasadena and Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority Board Member
• Doug Tessitor, MGL Foothill Extension Construction Authority Board Chairman and Glendora Council Member
• John Fasana, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and MGL Foothill Extension Construction Authority Board Member and Duarte Council Member
• Ara Najarian, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board Member and Glendale Council Member
• Sam Pedroza, MGL Foothill Extension Joint Powers Authority Board Chairman and Claremont Council Member
