Pasadena-based consulting and engineering firm Tetra Tech has secured a substantial contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to help improve Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and security.

Tetra Tech announced on Tuesday that it had been awarded a $439 million, five-year contract by USAID. The project, called the USAID Securing Power, Advancing Resilience & Connectivity Activity, aims to make Ukraine’s electricity, natural gas, and heating systems more reliable, secure, and efficient.

As part of the contract, Tetra Tech will work closely with the Ukrainian government, providing technical assistance to help the country meet the energy requirements for joining the European Union. The company will also focus on increasing energy efficiency in Ukraine’s business and industrial sectors.

“Tetra Tech is pleased to continue our support to USAID and the Government of Ukraine to strengthen energy security and resilience for all Ukrainians,” said Tetra Tech CEO Dan Batrack. “We are using our ‘Leading with Science’ approach to support Ukraine’s journey toward a sustainable and sovereign energy future.”

With a global workforce of 28,000, Tetra Tech provides services in water, environment, and sustainable infrastructure. The company’s “Leading with Science” approach involves tackling challenges related to water management, environmental protection, sustainable infrastructure, and clean energy.
