The Links, Inc. Pasadena-Altadena Chapter Welcomes 5 New Members

The Pasadena-Altadena Chapter of The Links, Incorporated welcomed five new members at a Celebratory Luncheon on May 5, 2013 at The Altadena Country Club. We are excited to usher in these talented and energetic ladies into the chapter: Charmayne Mills Ealy, Gail V. Taylor, Jeane Ward, Deborah Williams and Victoria Williams. Members of the Pasadena-Altadena Chapter, visiting Links from the Inglewood – Pacific Chapter and other surrounding chapters, family, and friends, attended the celebration.

At the event, the newly inducted members presented their service project in which they collaborated with the Links-Up mentees at John Muir High School. The “Links-Up for Success: Connecting Through Mentoring” program provides one-on-one mentoring and workshops for high school young ladies and their parents with an emphasis on scholarship.

The new members and Links-Up mentees teamed up to provide delicious to go sack lunches and inspirational notes for area homeless women who receive services in The Women’s Room at Friends in Deed (TWR). The Women’s Room at Friends in Deed, which opened in September 2007 is a daytime refuge for women who are alone and homeless or at risk.

It was noted that the population of Pasadena area homeless has increased significantly, especially for isolated women and children. Clients of The Women’s Room also received lovely hygiene kits with dental products donated by Link Dr. Karen E. Guinn of The Smile Agency.

The Pasadena-Altadena Chapter is very pleased to welcome the new Links into our chain of friendship and service!
