The Pasadena-Altadena Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, is looking ahead to celebrating their 60th anniversary with a gala on Dec. 2, at The Westin Pasadena.

The Links Incorporated is a renowned volunteer service organization dedicated to enriching and sustaining the cultural and economic identities of people of African ancestry.

Founded in Philadelphia in 1946, this not-for-profit corporation now has over 17,000 members who are professional women of African descent spread over 299 chapters in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the UK.

The local Chapter has been serving the Pasadena-Altadena area since 1963, a driving force in the community comprising a diverse group of professionals, including physicians, dentists, judges, attorneys, engineers, educators and others.

Over those six decades, the Chapter has awarded over $800,000 in college scholarships to local students, provided more than 100,000 hours of volunteer work in the Pasadena/Altadena area, and mentored over 350 middle and high school girls through the Links-Up for Success development program.

Many of those girls would go on to graduate from prestigious institutions like Harvard University, Stanford University, Howard University, and many more schools.

The group has also collaborated with and supported numerous community organizations, including the ArtCenter College of Design, the City of Pasadena, First AME Church Food Pantry, Pasadena Unified School District, Friends in Deed, and many others.

Today, The Links Incorporated continues its legacy, focusing on youth services, national and international initiatives, the arts, as well as health and human services.

“Through friendship and service, we are honored to follow in the footsteps of our charter members from 60 years ago and do our part to help the Pasadena-Altadena community educate and inspire its youth, feed those in need, and work to uplift our neighborhoods, both here and around the world,” Pam Cosse, President of the The Links Pasadena-Altadena Chapter, said. “As we like to say in The Links, we are linked to connect, create, and collaborate in service to others. It takes only one moment to be helpful. We are delighted to be of service.”

The “Celebrating 60 Years”event will include dinner, live entertainment by the Scott Mayo Band and DJ Disco, dancing and a live auction with prizes including USC football tickets and a private shopping experience at the Tiffany & Co. store in Beverly Hills, a statement by the organization said.
