There’s a Change in the Weather: Heat Takes the Weekend Off

The weekend in Pasadena will see a sharp change in weather — a short-lived cooling off which in true Southern California style will pressage a week that will be hotter than last.

An unusually deep marine layer will foster patchy morning fog and clouds then gradual clearing, with a high near 84 on Saturday. Sunday, the same scenario with an even lower high of just 82.

Monday will be similar but begin to warm up.

But by Tuesday, the heat is back on, climbing to 98 on Wednesday and Thursday.

Here’s the expected play-by-play for the week from the National Weather Service:

Today: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 84. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Tonight: Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 61. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Sunday: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 82. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Sunday Night: Patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 60. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Monday: Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 86. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Monday Night: Clear, with a low around 64.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 92.

Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 67.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low of around 70.

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98.
