There’s A Change in the Weather, Straight Ahead

The relentless heatwave continues today and will last through Friday when it will end abruptly and unusually.

National Weather Service forecasters said the current prolonged heat wave will finally break this weekend as a rapidly weakening tropical cyclone stalls offshore and bring cloudy skies and a chance of showers and thunderstorms

Pasadena should see a drop of 18 degrees overnight on Friday — from a high of 102 Friday to just 84 on Saturday, according to the NWS.

Creating the welcome relief will be cloudy skies and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after midnight on Friday. The cooling will continue all weekend through Monday.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 84. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
