Pasadena police responded with numerous patrol units to the 10:49 p.m. report Friday of three men fighting near the 100 block of West Claremont Street, with one of the men armed with a handgun.

Officers arriving at the scene heard a single gunshot, Lt. Mark Goodman said.

The trio fled, he said, but were pursued by officers and all were detained. None of the suspects had the handgun when caught, he said.

Officers then searched the area through which the men had run and did locate the handgun inside Kings Villages, but so far have been unable to establish clear ownership of the weapon. The three men were arrested for trespassing.

Booked were Cedric Jones, 25; Maurice Clark, 22; and Shelton Smallwood, 24, all residents of Pasadena, Goodman said.

No injuries were reported arising from the incident.
