Three New COVID-19 Infections Detected In Pasadena On Wednesday

Three new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths were reported by the Pasadena Public Health Department on Wednesday.

Since the onset of the pandemic, a total of 11,303 infections have been documented, as well as 349 deaths.

An average of 1.1 new cases were detected each day in the city over the prior week, according to city data.

Authorities announced Wednesday that Los Angeles County would align with the state’s new policies with respect to mask wearing in public upon the state’s scheduled reopening on June 15.

Masks will not be required for fully vaccinated people, with exceptions including on public transit; in K-12 schools’ in healthcare settings; in detection and correctional facilities; and in homeless and emergency shelters, said L.A. County Director of Public Health Dr. Barbara Ferrer.

Officials in Pasadena have yet to make an announcement regarding the state’s mask policy changes.

“We appreciate the hard work of everyone to keep each other safe and healthy; your efforts make it possible for us to look forward to a full reopening next week,” Ferrer said in a written statement.

“With the retiring of most distancing and capacity restrictions, businesses will be able to return to their customary activities. The remaining public health safety measures of appropriate masking are critically important to protect those who are unvaccinated,” she said.

County health officials reported 202 new COVID-19 infections and four new deaths on Wednesday.

Just over 240 people remained hospitalized with the virus county-wide, with 16% of them being treated in intensive care units.

The California Department of Public Health reported 846 infections and 20 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the statewide totals to 3,692,506 cases of COVID-19 and 62,499 deaths.

The state’s average positivity rate over the prior week held steady at 0.7%,m according to CDPH data.

As of Wednesday, L.A. County represented 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s fatalities.
