Three alleged members of a Pasadena street gang were arrested Tuesday evening on weapons-related charges, authorities said.
According to Pasadena Police Lt. Edgar Sanchez, officers from the department’s Street Crime Unit were conducting extra patrols in the area of Claremont Street and Sunset Avenue at approximately 7:24 p.m. when they reportedly saw a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and detained the three men inside, who were later identified as suspected members of a Pasadena street gang, Sanchez said. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly revealed an unregistered firearm and a high-capacity magazine.
Police arrested George Olvera, 19, and Israel Olvera, 19, both of Altadena; and Benny Badilla, 21, of Pasadena.
All three suspects were booked on weapons-related charges, according to Sanchez. Their relationship to one another was not disclosed.
