Police arrested a homeless man Wednesday night after he robbed another man of his jacket in Old Pasadena, officials said.
The incident took place about 11:20 p.m. in the area of South Fair Oaks Avenue and Dayton Street, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
A 30-year-old Pasadena man was sitting in an alley, with his jacket set on top of a table, Burgess said.
The robber walked up, picked up the jacket, and began putting it on, according to Burgess. When the victim objected, the robber began throwing punches, although none connected with the victim.
Police said the victim was knocked to the ground during the struggle, and the attacker began walking away with the jacket.
But the victim followed, called police and relayed the location of the robber, Burgess said.
Officers responded and took Davion Willis, 18, into custody without a struggle, he said. Willis was booked on suspicion of strong-arm robbery.
Information regarding Willis’ bail amount and initial court appearance was not available Thursday.
