A 45-year-old transient woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly broke into an apartment and woke the resident, who locked herself in a bedroom, police said.
The incident occurred at about 9:04 a.m. in the 100 block of East Holly Street, according to Pasadena Police Lt.Derek Locklin
The victim, a 28-year-old Asian woman, told police she was awakened by the sound of a woman screaming inside her apartment. Scared, the victim locked herself in her bedroom.
Officers responded to the location and found the suspect, identified by Locklin as Amy Chapman, locked inside a restroom.
Chapman was arrested without incident and booked into the Pasadena city jail on suspicion of residential burglary.
The victim was unharmed, Locklin said.
Lt. Locklin said the incident appears to be random and that Chapman may have been checking doors and found an open door to the victim’s apartment. No weapon was used in the crime.
