Two men were critically wounded Saturday in a car-to-car shooting in Pasadena, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 4:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of Lake Avenue, said Pasadena police Lt. Carolyn Gordon.
The preliminary investigation indicated that two Duarte residents, ages 23 and 24, were stopped in their vehicle when a late-model sedan drove up behind them and someone inside fired multiple times into their vehicle, Gordon said.
There were at least two suspects in the sedan, she said.
“Detectives do not believe the shooting was random,” Gordon said. They are investigating whether it was gang-related.
Paramedics took both victims to a hospital in critical condition, she said.
One witness to the aftermath of the shooting told Pasadena Now he saw police give CPR to one victim on the sidewalk.
“There was a car parked in front of the comic book store with its door open but the windows were intact. The first guy was laying on his back next to the car on the sidewalk,” the witness said.
The witness also described hearing five gunshots moments earlier.
Officers and Evidence Technicians canvassed the area for potential evidence and witnesses. Pasadena Police Detectives responded to the scene and the investigation is on-going.
Lake Avenue was closed between Rio Grande and Elizabeth streets for a police investigation, Gordon said. It was reopened about 9 p.m.
