Pasadena’s Historic Preservation Commission will deliberate Tuesday, July 21, on recommendations to designate two properties in the City as landmarks, in accordance with the Pasadena Municipal Code.

One of those properties is the E.W. Woodruff House at 1500 North Los Robles Ave., built as a single-family residence by the original owner, Edward William Woodruff.

The current owners, Carol and Jeff Potter, has applied for designation of the house as a landmark because it embodies the “distinctive characteristics of a locally significant property type, architectural style, period, and method of construction,” according to criteria in the Municipal Code.

The property, consisting of a house, garage and pergola, is also a locally significant example of a two-story Arts and Crafts period single-family residence, as described by the Pasadena Department of Planning and Community Development.

The other property is at 1031 San Pascual Street, in Pasadena’s Council District 7.

The Planning Department said the property, now owned by Caltech, embodies the distinctive characteristics of a locally significant property type, architectural style and period. It is a locally significant example of a Spanish Colonial Revival style bungalow court, the description said. The property is located a block away from Caltech’s campus.

During the Historic Preservation Commission’s virtual meeting Tuesday, the Commission’s members will also review the Certified Local Government (CLG) Annual Report which will be submitted to the California Office of Historic Preservation, the agenda showed.

Members of the community can access the virtual meeting through Zoom, at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89468274717 or by calling (669) 900-6833 and using the webinar ID 894 6827 4717.
