Two Pasadena men are now in police custody after they were involved in the stabbing of a man who was just walking home Thursday night.
The victim, described as in his late 30s, also a Pasadena resident, suffered a small puncture wound in his left arm, and cuts above the right eye and on his lower lip, Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said.
The stabbing was reported at about 9:55 p.m. Thursday and happened in the 300 block of E. Orange Grove Blvd. in Pasadena.
“The victim was walking home when he was approached by both suspects. They confronted the victim – he didn’t know why, he doesn’t know them – and without any provocation, they threatened him with knives,” Mercado said.
The victim tried to defend himself and fought the suspects. He sustained the injuries during the fight. Mercado said that each of the attackers had a knife.
“He was able to get away and had a Good Samaritan call the police,” Mercado related. “We arrived and detained both suspects in the area and arrested them without incident.”
The suspects were identified as Antonio Lizarraga, 19, and Javier Castro, 18.
Mercado said the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
