An irate boyfriend crashed a New Year’s Eve party where he threatened a woman with a knife, then snatched their 2-year-old baby from her and fled before being taken into custody moments later, police said.
Neither the woman or the infant was injured, according to police.
The attack took place at 12:04 a.m. Friday in a residence in the 1100 block of Summit Avenue, said Lt. Anthony Burgess.
Police were called to the scene by reports of a domestic violence incident and encountered the suspect, 40-year-old Jorge Mejia of Altadena, running from the party with the child in his arms.
Mejia was arrested without incident, Burgess said.
The child’s mother, a 32-year-old Altadena resident, has three children with the suspect, according to Burgess.
Mejia is currently being held in the Pasadena City Jail on a $30,000 bond, electronic booking records show.
