This sermon was delivered by Rev. Dr. George Regas, founder of the Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace and former rector of All Saints Church, Pasadena on Sunday, 20th of May, 2012. Dr. George Regas retired as Rector of All Saints Church, Pasadena, in May of 1995, after 28 years in this job. All Saints Church is one of the largest Episcopal Churches in America with a dynamic and culturally diverse congregation.

The predominant focus of Dr. Regas’ 28 years at All Saints in Pasadena was in the arena of peace and justice. He led the congregation to oppose the Vietnam War, the escalating nuclear arms race, and the Gulf War. He established many programs of responding to human needs: an AIDS Service Center, a medical program for uninsured children, a shelter for the homeless, and the Coalition For A Non-Violent City. George Regas is now The Rector Emeritus of All Saints Church. In 1998, The Regas Institute was established for which George Regas is the Executive Director. The Institute is dedicated to the study and examination of Progressive Religion which will seek to be a counter-balance to the dominance of the Religious Right in the public arena.

Recently, he formed the Progressive Religious Partnership, in collaboration with People For The American Way, which seeks to put the Progressive Religious voice back into the dialogue on politics and morality.
