Warmer Weather Expected for Memorial Day

After a chilly and foggy end to the week, Pasadenans can look forward to sunnier skies and warmer temperatures just in time for Memorial Day, according to the National Weather Service.

The holiday on Monday is predicted to be mostly sunny, with temperatures climbing to a pleasant high near 78 degrees. 

This is a welcome change from the cool and gloomy weather expected to persist through Saturday, with the heavy marine layer bringing morning fog and drizzle to the valleys and surrounding areas.

The warming trend is expected to begin on Sunday as high pressure starts to build over the region. This will help to clear out the stubborn fog earlier in the day. Temperatures will rise closer to seasonal norms, according to the NWS.

By Memorial Day, the NWS forecasts the cloudy and cool conditions will be mostly a memory, with abundant sunshine and comfortable temperatures in the mid to upper 70s for those enjoying outdoor holiday activities in the San Gabriel Valley.

The mild weather is expected to continue into Monday evening, with mostly clear skies and an overnight low around 55 degrees.

The improved holiday forecast will be a real treat after several days of below-average temperatures, which are predicted to be 5 to 10 degrees cooler than usual for late May.

Thursday: Patchy drizzle and fog before 11:00 a.m. Cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 70. South southeast wind around 5 mph.

Thursday Night: Patchy drizzle and fog after 11:00 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 56. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light south southwest. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Friday: Patchy drizzle and fog before 11;00 a.m. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 66. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. South southwest wind around 5 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67.

Saturday Night: Patchy fog after 11:00 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 53.
