We Get Letters: Encouraged by Mayor Gordo, Hoping PUSD Finds Wisdom in His Words

I’m writing to express my concern regarding San Rafael Elementary’s Principal, Rudy Ramirez. I saw the recent video of him disparaging neighborhood residents and one family in particular. In the video he uses profanity and makes racist remarks unbecoming of an elementary school principal.

During the six years my daughter attended SRE, I had several unpleasant encounters with Mr. Ramirez. I found him to be arrogant, rude and prone to temper tantrums.

To his credit, Ramirez seems to be friendly and competent with students, but his recent racial comments make one question his fitness to work around children.

The recent video is not an isolated incident. He has a history of this behavior. I have heard him disparage neighborhood residents before. These are the families who regularly contribute money to the school.

We are encouraged by Mayor Gordo’s recent comments and hope PUSD finds wisdom in his words and removes Mr. Ramirez.
