We Get Letters: Re-elect Berlinda Brown Pasadena Community College District Three Trustee

Berlinda Brown decided in 2009 to run and serve.  When she “threw her hat into the ring,” I did not know her and my friends did not either.  Subsequently, I was invited to a “meet and greet gathering.”  We introduced ourselves as she listened intently displaying body language that was relaxed and confident.  I saw a well-dressed woman with a firm handshake, confident eye contact, warm smile, and a melodic voice.  We asked many questions that she answered with grace and grit.   The meeting allowed me to experience her strength, courage, insight, and intentionality with a willingness to go up “against all odds” without waffling or losing her focus.  We decided to support her and a commitment to assist her throughout her campaign and beyond.

Berlinda Brown utilized the time-tested strategy of “knocking on doors” to meet her constituents and, at the same time, for them to hear what she had to say and leave with them her well-written campaign materials.  We developed a friendship and regularly took walks around the Rose Brown where we talked “turkey.” I attended some of her events and saw firsthand how she was able to plant the seed, nourish and experience the birth of PCC North at John Muir High School working diligently for eight (8) years with the Pasadena Unified School District to sign a long-term agreement.  This ushered in the creation, continuation, and expansion of all-day college courses in Northwest Pasadena including dual enrollment courses for high school students and a litany of other curricular opportunities.  She acknowledged that to make this opportunity available …to residents is truly a dream come true.

Re-Elect Berlinda Brown who is known and respected. She stayed the course with transparency.  She continues to endure because she is politically astute, excels in communicating, building relationships, and handling tough challenges.  She never forgets the well of support including her “volunteer base.”  Berlinda Brown is visible, and viable.  Your vote will allow her to continue to explore opportunities for the betterment of District Three and Pasadena.
