Weather Rollercoaster: Cool, Then Warm, Then Cool Again

Published on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 | 5:44 am

The City of Roses will experience cooler-than-normal weather conditions through the end of the week due to strong onshore winds and a deep marine layer, National Weather Service forecasters said.

Residents can expect significantly cooler temperatures, with daily highs in the 60s — as much as 6 to 12 degrees below average.

The city will see a pattern of low clouds and patchy morning fog, which may include some drizzle, particularly in the evening. Although the skies may clear partially in the afternoons, the cooler air and persistent marine influence will keep the warming subdued.

This cooling trend is due to a broad upper-level trough moving over the area, which will also contribute to the deepening of the marine layer.

Heading into Thursday and Friday, the onshore flow is expected to weaken, but the temperatures will still remain below the typical for this time of year, albeit slightly warmer than Wednesday.

Looking ahead to the weekend and early next week, Pasadena will see a shift in the weather pattern with clearer skies and warmer temperatures. The highs are expected to reach into the 70s and lower 80s, which is a few degrees above the usual for early spring.

However, this warmer trend may be short-lived as the ridge breaks down by Tuesday, leading to a return of onshore flow and possibly some patchy low clouds in the morning, cooling the temperatures once again.
