More than 7,100 Pasadena homes and businesses were in the dark as six separate power outages plagued the local electrical grid on Tuesday evening.

A total of 7,185 Pasadena Water and Power customers were affected at the height of the outages, according to the utility.

The outages centered around the area of the 210 Freeway and Los Robles Avenue, but one also struck West Pasadena.

“Around 5:30 p.m., PWP was aware that a large number of customers were impacted by a power outage,” PWP spokesperson Margie Otto told Pasadena Now. “PWP crews worked quickly to restore power to more than 7,000 customers by 6:47 p.m.”

Otto said the cause of the outages was still being determined.
