Williams Reports Raising Just Over $100,000 in District 41 Assembly Race

Published on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 | 2:57 pm

Assembly Candidate and Vice Mayor Felicia Williams raised $106,993.65 for her District 41 campaign in the January 1 to June 30 period this year, according to filings on the Secretary of State’s website.

According to the filings, Williams’ campaign has spent $58,672.54 this year. She reported $73,081.03 in cash on hand as of June 30.

Williams is running against former Pasadena Police Lt. Phlunté Riddle and Claremont City Councilmember Jed Leano.

Williams’ filings give a complete picture of fundraising in the race so far. Riddle has raised $236,634.43 and spent $49,497.66. She has $207,307.07 on hand. Leano has raised $150,328.01 and spent $30,541,88. As of his filing, he had $120,506.50 on hand.

Williams was elected to the City Council by residents in District 2 in 2020. Her entrance into the 2024 assembly race guarantees a new District 2 Councilmember when that race goes before the voters next year.

Williams currently serves as the City’s Vice Mayor. She rotated into the position last December and will serve in that position until December 9 when District 6 Council member Steve Madison becomes the next vice mayor.

Current Assemblyman Chris Holden, who currently represents the 41st District, terms out in 2024 and cannot seek reelection. Holden has endorsed Riddle.

Candidates typically tout their fundraising as a sign of the viability of their campaign.

Assembly District 41 includes the San Gabriel Valley communities in Pasadena, Altadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Dimas, La Verne, and Claremont and Inland Empire communities of Upland, Phelan, Lytle Creek, Rancho Cucamonga, Wrightwood, and Hesperia.
