District 2 Councilmember Williams to Hold First Town Hall Meeting

District 2 City Councilmember Felicia Williams will host her first town hall meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 10.

The event will be attended by City Manager Steve Mermell, Police Chief John Perez and Transportation Director Laura Cornejo.

Williams, a former city planning commissioner, was elected to the seat last March after defeating candidates Tricia Keane, Bo Patatian and Kevin Litwin. 

“I’m very excited to have our first town hall with the residents,” Williams told Pasadena Now on Tuesday. “I look forward to hearing questions and viewpoints on public safety, transportation and any other concerns that District 2 residents may have.”

Perez may be asked to field a few questions, as police continue to confiscate guns during traffic stops, and shootings in the city remain a major concern.

Residents may also have questions for Cornejo about several recommended changes to the city’s parking regulations, among them a plan to end 90-minute free parking at city garages.

Other recommendations from Cornejo and a consultant tasked with creating a parking strategic plan for the city included eliminating free parking on holidays, implementing a merchant parking validation program, and increasing the daily maximum parking rate to $12. 

District 2 consists of central and eastern portions of the city, including East Colorado Boulevard between Wilson and Oak avenues, an area buzzing with residential development that has a strong Latino community and a burgeoning Armenian-American population. 

Over the past few years, the district has become a prime target for developers.
