Pasadena police arrested a woman on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after she struck her aunt in the head with a large rock on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident unfolded at about 4:50 p.m. at a home in the 1700 block of El Sereno Avenue, said Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins.
The victim, a woman in her 60s, was sitting in her backyard when her 26-year-old niece arrived at the home, Dawkins said. The niece was upset after being kicked out of the home several weeks earlier.
Dawkins said the niece threw items at her aunt, including a large rock, which struck the victim in the head. The impact resulted in a laceration to the victim’s ear, but she did not wish to be hospitalized.
Responding officers found the suspect nearby and arrested her, Dawkins said. She was identified as Christina Marie Ham Evans, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records.
Bail for Evans was set at $30,000 pending her initial court appearance, which had yet to be scheduled Monday, records show.
