A woman suffered injuries including a broken arm when she was beaten with a metal pipe by another woman as she slept in Pasadena’s Central Park, police said.
The crime took place at about 11 a.m. Tuesday in the park, 275 S. Raymond Ave., but was not reported to police until Wednesday afternoon, as the victim was being treated at a hospital for her injuries, said Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins.
The victim, who was in her 50s and described as a transient, relayed she had been asleep in the park about 9 a.m. Tuesday when someone approached her and told her someone else was planning to “beat her up” over comments she had made previously, according to the lieutenant.
The woman went back to sleep before she was again approached two hours later by another woman who struck her twice with a three-foot-long metal pipe, Dawkins said.
Police described the attacker as a woman in her 30s, wearing all black clothing, including a black ski mask.
