Cerritos College limited the Pasadena City College women’s basketball team to its lowest score in Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium history in defeating the Lancers, 67-40, Friday night in a South Coast Conference crossover game. The gym opened its doors in the 1999-2000 season.

The Lancers, who entered the contest as the No. 12-ranked team in Southern California, had a miserable shooting night from the floor, making only 12 of 55 shots (21.8 percent). The previous low by a PCC team at home was 43 last season v. Long Beach City College. The last time PCC scored as few points was at Mt. San Antonio on Dec. 21, 2012 in a 57-40 defeat.

The Lancers (11-9 overall) made only 50 percent from the free throw line, 14 of 28 attempts.

The No. 10-rated Falcons (14-7) rained down 11 shots from beyond the 3-point circle, including four each by Verenice Gomez (13 points) and Allyson O’Brien (15 points). PCC hit just 2-for-17 on 3s. Cerritos outrebounded Pasadena, 60-40.

Freshman point guard Emiko Powell, a late add to the starting lineup, led PCC with 10 points while forward Ilianna Blanc had eight points and six rebounds before fouling out late in the game.

Pasadena was at least consistent in its low scoring as the team registered 10 points each in the four quarters of play.

PCC begins the 8-game, SCC North Division schedule Wednesday, Jan. 20 in a 5 p.m. tip-off at Los Angeles Trade Tech.
