Women’s Swim 3rd at NorCal Mariner Invitational

The Pasadena City College women’s swim team placed third out of seven squads participating in the 11th Mariner Invitational meet held at College of Marin on March 12. The Lancers also lost to Diablo Valley, 89-71, in a dual meet at DVC on March 11 as part of PCC’s annual trek to Northern California.

In the DVC dual, Liza Echeverria (pictured) won both the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.23) and 200 breaststroke (2:39.46) while also swimming on the team’s 400 medley relay win in 4:28.23 with teammates Anais Hacobian, Ariahn Givens, and Phoebe Lee. Givens took first in the 100 freestyle (56.20).

At the Mariner invite, Givens won both the 50 (25.92) and 100 freestyle events (56.08). Echeverria captured the 400 IM in 4:56.88. The Lancers’ 200 free relay won in a time of 1:48.99.

In the men’s competition, David Jimenez won the 100 backstroke at 58.03 as the Lancers took fourth place overall with 212 points. Zachary Loomer was second in the 100 butterfly (59.41) while Leo Nuntapramote placed second in the 200 IM (2:11.99). PCC took fourth place overall with 212 points. Diablo Valley won both the men’s and women’s standings title at the Mariner invite.

DVC also controlled the men’s dual with the Lancers, 141-28, as Jimenez won the 200 backstroke in 2:07.50.

Coach Terry Stoddard’s PCC teams are back in action on Friday, Mar. 18 in a South Coast Conference double dual meet v. El Camino and Chaffey at Chaffey College.
