Old Pasadena Management District Announces its “Only in Old Pas Giveaway” Surprise Gift Card Giveaways Support Small Businesses in Old Pasadena

During the two month-long COVID crisis, small businesses nation-wide have struggled to open for business each day, retain employees, and bring necessary products to their customers’ shifting needs. If you have supported any mom-and-pop business during the Safer at Home order, your patronage has been a lifeline to these independent merchants.

To recognize our community’s amazing support of Old Pasadena’s small businesses, Old Pasadena Management District (OPMD) has purchased dozens of $10 gift cards from several of the district’s local bakeries, dessert shops, and coffee houses to give away to Old Pasadena visitors. The gift card promotion, called the Only in Old Pas Giveaway, brings a little extra funding to these businesses, who in turn get to surprise unsuspecting customers with the gift cards between Thursday, May 14 and Sunday, May 17. Lucky recipients can either use the gift cards there on the spot or for a future purchase.

In creating the campaign, Janet Swartz, Director of Marketing & Events at OPMD says, “It felt very important to us to say thank you to the community for being so supportive of our local businesses right now. We also wanted to reinforce to everyone that our businesses are here, open every day, working so hard to bring you food, drink – some tasty meals and comforts during this period. We love that they can partner with us to say ‘thank you’ to their customers and the broader community.”
