More Than 600 Pasadena Unified 9th Grade Academy Students Attend Conference Day at Pasadena City College
More than 600 ninth graders in the Pasadena Unified School District’s (PUSD) college and career themed academies will attend the district’s first annual 9th Grade Student Conference Day at Pasadena City College on Thursday, March 10, 2016. The day is designed to inspire students for the academic and industry experience they will have in the next three years within their chosen academy.
In a professional conference setting, students will interact with academy business partners in their field of interest and will attend sessions on topics such as portfolio development and audition tips; mock interviews; and resume tips and suggestions. With the help of counselors, students will relate their conference experience with their personal strengths and goals.
PUSD high schools offer themed academies that focus on college and beyond with specialties in areas that include Engineering & Environmental Science; Creative Arts, Media & Design; and Health Careers. Rigorous, college-preparatory academics are themed around real-world applications to the industry of choice so that graduates are prepared for college and ready to attain their long-term career goals.
