A Century of Memories

Southwestern Academy welcomes back alums for 100th anniversary celebration

New memories were made and friendships were renewed Friday evening, as Southwestern Academy welcomed more than 200 alums back to the campus for their 100th Anniversary celebration weekend.

“We are all connected here at Southwestern Academy,” Lou Pulgencio, director of International Studies, told the gathered crowd at Lincoln Hall. “Whether parents, students, staff or faculty, we are all connected here.”

“I am so thrilled. Our turnout is really exceeding my expectations,” said Head of School Robin Jarchow, who has been at Southwestern in various capacities for 36 years. “It’s so exciting to see so many former students,” she said, “and I’m so excited to hear about people’s life experiences, and memories. This is a big family.”

The San Marino campus is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls, grades 6 through 12, with a college-preparatory curriculum, based on the University of California’s entrance standards.

The Anniversary weekend continued throughout the weekend with a celebration dinner on Saturday, a brunch with the Head of School on Sunday, followed by alumni Girls’ and Boys’ basketball games on Sunday afternoon.
