Alejandro Ramos a Marshall Fundamental Senior Receives Full Tuition Questbridge National Scholarship



Marshall Fundamental School is thrilled to announce Alejandro Ramos a Questbridge National Scholar.

Congratulations to Alejandro Ramos, a Marshall Fundamental Secondary School Class of 2021 Senior who has been selected as a Questbridge Scholar and plans to attend Bowdoin College in Maine next fall. Alejandro is one out of 18,500 applicants and is one in 1,464 students nationally with a match scholarship with early admission to a QuestBridge college partner. The award will cover his full cost of attendance, including tuition, room and board, books, supplies, and travel expenses. Alejandro plans to major in Economics/Political Science with career aspirations of working in law, business management, or politics.

Alejandro began his educational career with the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) in Kindergarten at McKinley Elementary and joined the Marshall Fundamental Eagles family at 6th grade.

His extracurricular activities include membership in the Marshall Fundamental National Honor Society, the Asian Club, the Tennis Club, the Armenian Club, the French Club, where he serves as Treasurer; and the Astrophysics Club, serving as Vice President. As an athlete he participated for two years on the Marshall Fundamental Junior Varsity Tennis Team. Prior to that he was a Midfield Defender for the Villa Park Soccer Team in grades 7th through 9th.

He was selected as the Marshall Fundamental representative for the 2020 American Legion: California Boys State (program). Boys State being a leadership and citizenship program for high school juniors bridging their senior year with focus on exploring the mechanics of American government and politics. He was a participant in the Partnership for Success (PFS) Program, a summer academic enrichment program. Through PFS and in partnership with Polytechnic there was the Global Initiative Program (GIP) where working with Arroyo and Foothills Conservancy, Alejandro along with a partner were presented with the goal of writing a grant proposal to a board of judges to help preserve local flora and fauna. In addition, he took a trip to San Diego and Tijuana to see the recent border caravan crisis in Mexico. Alejandro mentioned, “Through these two experiences this is where I learned about global and community activism.”

Alejandro is recognized by the College Board as an AP Scholar, In addition, he is a candidate for the distinguished AP Capstone Diploma, his research topic, “How has the reversal of environmental protection policies by the current presidential administration affected the US economy?”

Alejandro Ramos’ whose first language is Spanish is trilingual, speaking Spanish, English, and Mandarin.

Marshall Fundamental serves middle and high school students in grades 6th through 12th. 2018 Marshall was awarded the California Civic Engagement of Excellence Award. FelitaKealing is Asst. Coordinator, Marketing, Student Recruitment, and Community Relations at Marshall Fundamental.
