Blair Science Night Will Present Hands-In Demonstrations From Teachers, Students and Scientists from JPL, Carnegie Observatories and the Huntington Hospital
Pasadena’s Blair High and Middle School, an IB (international Baccalaureate) World School, is holding its first annual Blair Science Night on Friday, January 17, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the middle school campus, located at 1135 S. Euclid Ave. on the east side of Marengo Ave.
The free event will feature exciting hands-on demonstrations and family-friendly activities led by Blair teachers and clubs, as well as many local science institutions. Blair students of all grades and their friends and families, as well as the Pasadena community, will have plenty to choose from – from robotics to dissections to telescopes and more.
JPL will be there to do a presentation on Mars 2020 robots. Caltech scientists will lead chemistry and environmental science activities, with a science demonstration presented in Spanish by Caltech Club Latino. Huntington Hospital will conduct a presentation about epilepsy awareness, and Carnegie Observatories will conduct astronomy activities.
The event will also feature a science fiction writing workshop with award-winning PUSD English teacher Christine McLaughlin, an escape room, dissections with the Blair Health Careers Academy, and robotics demonstrations with the Blair robotics team.
Other participating organizations include Sidewalk Astronomers, ISS Above, and Health Careers Academy, among others.
Food trucks will be nearby and ready to sell by 5 p.m.
