Career Pathways Take Shape at Rose City

Through the Career Pathways program at Pasadena Unified School District, students gain real-world, industry-aligned experience that connects classroom learning with future careers. Designed to prepare students for both college and the workforce, Career Pathways provide hands-on training, professional mentorship, and opportunities to earn industry certifications while still in high school.
At Rose City High School, that vision is coming to life through a new partnership with Simply Divine. Ten students are currently enrolled in a barbering and cosmetology pathway that prepares them for state licensure and immediate entry into the beauty industry.
Students will complete 1,000 hours of hands-on instruction required to qualify for the state board exam. In addition to developing technical skills in hair, skin, and nail services, they study physiology, sanitation standards, and professional practices essential to success in the field.
PUSD celebrates these students for balancing their high school coursework with professional training and is grateful to its community partner for helping expand meaningful Career Pathways that open doors to rewarding futures.
