Chandler School Supports Local Students Displaced by Eaton Fire

Chandler School, a K-8 independent school committed to service and community involvement, is pleased to announce an initiative to support local students affected by the Eaton Fire. With the approval of a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) by the City of Pasadena, Chandler School will host a cohort of students from the fire-damaged Oak Knoll Montessori School.
In the spirit of community connection, Chandler School will welcome 25 students and five teachers from Oak Knoll Montessori starting today. These students, in grades 4 through 8, will occupy a self-contained class within Chandler’s most recent addition – The Center for Innovation. This arrangement is expected to last at least one month or until Oak Knoll Montessori completes the renovations at their permanent location. The temporary use permit offers flexibility for the duration of the school year to accommodate any further needs.

“Our mission compels us to act in times of need,” said Head of School Emily Brown. “While hosting these students will not affect our class sizes or faculty workload, it will provide a unique opportunity for both Chandler and Oak Knoll Montessori students to engage in learning through service and develop meaningful relationships.”
Chandler hosted the collective community to our All-School Assembly that honored both Black History Month and welcomed the Oak Knoll Montessori students to the Chandler campus. The assembly was followed by a parent coffee, celebrating this partnership.
“We are proud to support our community during this challenging time,” Emily Brown added. “This collaboration is a testament to the strength and compassion of our community.”
