Ecologist and Learning Naturalist, Levi Brewster Visit Aveson Global Leadership Academy

Ecologist and learning naturalist, Levi Brewster, met up with Aveson Global Leadership Academy juniors to discuss the local ecology and outdoor learning opportunities in their own backyard. Learning in the outdoors has significant educational advantages for students and the need to connect with nature is becoming increasingly prominent in research not just locally but worldwide. Pro-environmental behaviour, especially in the early years, has been shown to have a causal relationship with connectivity with the natural environment. Embedding indigenous culture and knowledge into outdoor learning within student programs enables local knowledge and understanding to permeate throughout activities in explicit and experiential ways.
