Flintridge Prep’s Ninth Grade Photography Students Creates Pinhole Cameras Out of Cardboards

Flintridge Prep’s Ninth grade photography students in Tim Bradley’s class created pinhole cameras out of cardboard and designed their own unique “surrogate eye” to decorate the front of the camera. “After looking at paintings by Magritte and Dali, students used their imagination, image searches and Photoshop layering techniques to create and print their own surrogate eye to decorate their camera front,” Bradley shares.

Once the lens was installed, the students learned how to use the darkroom and field tested their cameras around campus. Over the next couple weeks, students will be studying surrealist artists as inspiration for their own work.
