Flintridge Sacred Heart’s Latinas United in Action Holds a Prayer Service to Honor La Virgen de Guadalupe
Flintridge Sacred Heart’s Latinas United in Action hosted a prayer service yesterday in honor of La Virgen de Guadalupe, the patroness of all the Americas. The account of her appearance on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City in 1531 was first written in 1545 in Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs. Student and faculty readers shared the details of her appearance, prayer and the song “Mañanitas a la Virge de Guadalupe,” which is traditionally sung at dawn on Dec. 12 as communities gather for special prayers and mass.
