La Cañada Unified School District Celebrates 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year: Laura Deans

La Cañada Unified School District (LCUSD) is proud to announce that Laura Deans has been named the district’s 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year. She was recently honored at the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) Teachers of the Year Banquet, where outstanding educators from across L.A. County were celebrated for their dedication and excellence.

Laura’s journey with LCUSD began in 2007 as a paraeducator at Palm Crest Elementary (PCY). Guided by her passion for helping all learners thrive, she earned her special education credential in 2011 and soon after began teaching as a part-time RSP teacher at La Cañada Elementary (LCE). Her dedication and talent quickly led her to a full-time role as a Resource Specialist at La Cañada High School, where she has continued to make a lasting difference in the lives of students.

Now serving as the 9th Grade Inclusion Specialist, Laura works to ensure that students with special needs succeed alongside their peers in general education classrooms. Known for her compassion, determination, and unwavering commitment, she has become an indispensable member of the LCUSD family. The district is deeply proud to recognize her invaluable contributions and celebrate this well-deserved honor.
