Marshall’s Maria Teresa McDonald Named to 2027 Rose Court

Thurgood Marshall celebrated the announcement of senior Maria Teresa McDonald as one of seven members of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses 2027 Rose Court, presented by Visit Newport Beach. Celebratory images from Monday’s Tournament of Roses Announcement captured the excitement as family, friends, classmates, faculty and staff gathered to cheer Maria on.

Hundreds of people attended the announcement on the Tournament of Roses South Lawn, including nearly 40 members of the Marshall community who came out to support Maria. Among those cheering her on were her parents, Dr. Brian and Varinia McDonald; Thurgood Marshall Principal Ms. Lori Touloumian; members of the Counseling Team, Ms. Zitlaly Calderon, Ms. Nicole Chan, Ms. Britney Navarro and Ms. Maria Torres; Public Relations & Marketing representative Ms. Felita Kealing; Newspaper and Yearbook staff members Talessa Ofumbi and Andrew Sweet; Associated Student Body (ASB) President Madeline Garcia; Senior Class President Christina Maradian; members of the ASB Cabinet and Commissioners; and ASB Advisor Mr. Kevin Smith. Maria and her parents were also pictured with Terry Madigan, President and Chairman of the Board of the 2027 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association.

As a member of the Royal Court, Maria will join the other court members in attending nearly 100 community and media functions, serving as an ambassador for the Tournament of Roses, the Pasadena community and the greater Los Angeles area. On January 1, 2027, she will ride in the 138th Rose Parade® presented by Honda and attend the 113th Rose Bowl Game® presented by Prudential Financial.
